    Music, Dance, Theatre Festival and Exhibitions etc.Sahitya Kala Parishad is ceaselessly striving to make Delhi the cultural Capital of the country by managing and organising various arts exhibitions, artist camps, National music/dance/drama festivals, cultural programmes in Universities/Colleges/Schools, training workshops, lecture-cum-demonstration programmes, programmes & schemes of National importance and programmes & schemes for young and upcoming talents etc. etc SKP regularly organizes various music, dance and theatre programmes/festivals in which young, upcoming as well as the eminent artists participate. Parishad organizes annual art exhibition and artists camps and events like Interaction with eminent artists where budding artists learn by interacting with the eminent artists.

    With a view to provide training in performing & plastic arts to children and adults, SKP regularly organizes training workshops and interactive programmes in the field of music, dance, drama, fine arts & folk arts in various schools and other places throughout Delhi. Duration of the workshops are from seven days to one month. This scheme is widely advertised in the newspapers. Awards & prizes are given annually to the persons of proven merit who have achieved excellence in their respective fields which includes eminent artists, Gurus, scholars, journalists for their contribution in creation, innovation and promotion of art & culture. The cash amount given to the artists is from Rs.5,000/- to Rs.11,00,000/-. They include Parishad Samman, Mohan Rakesh Samman and prizes in fine arts competitions etc. etc. Scholarship for a period of two years of Rs.1,500/- per month are given for advance training in the field of music & dance to young, talented and upcoming artists. Financial assistance of Rs. 2,000/- P.m. to old age artists in indigent circumstances are given for lifetime. Part payment for auditorium rent/gallery rent/payment to artists is given to promising and Delhi based registered cultural Institutions for organizing the performing & plastic arts activities. Many young and senior artists/cultural Institutions benefit from Delhi Government's financial assistance scheme.


    The Sahitya Kala Parishad has started a new scheme named as Lok Kala Vibhag from the financial year 1996-97.

  1. Promotion of folk and traditional arts by organising various artist camps and cultural programmes in rural areas of the capital.

  2. Conducting of training workshops, seminars, interaction sessions etc.

  3. Programmes of folk and traditional arts to be organised at different places of the urban/rural areas of the Capital.

  4. Various Utsav and Melas showing different folk forms of the country to be organised.

  5. National folk art & craft festival.

  6. To promote upcoming folk and traditional artist.


    For "taking arts to the people" and decentralizing the cultural activities, the SKP has proposed to build cultural centres in all the nine districts of Delhi. These centres will house a fully equipped auditorium and will organise various cultural programmes/training workshops/interaction sessions/performing and plastic arts competitions etc. etc. Thousands of Delhites will benefit from the facilities provided by their respective District Cultural Centres. The auditoriums will also be available to the NGOs for organising their cultural events:

  1. Janakpuri

      The first District Cultural Centre has come up at C Block Janakpuri, New Delhi. The building has been constructed on the land of Delhi Public Library on 50:50 sharing basis. In addition to organizing cultural programmes of the Sahitya Kala Parishad, the auditorium is available to NGOs, artists and other corporate houses for organizing their cultural programmes, seminar, and presentations etc. on nominal rent. Already the Parishad has been organizing various cultural programmes/schemes and training workshops in different localities of the District in collaboration with local NGOs and schools under Bhagidari.

  2. Vikaspuri (Bodella Village)

      A piece of land measuring 4313 sq meters has been purchased from DDA for construction of second cultural centre. The process of approvals and construction of the cultural centre is under process. The file is under process for getting administrative approval and expenditure sanction from the planning and finance departments, Govt. of NCT of Delhi.


    Cinema, with its magical ability to weave dreams on the silver screen as well as to hold up the mirror to the realities of life, has been a source of great fascination for mankind. Over the years, the ambit of cinema has enlarged considerably and cinema portrays not merely dreams but also portrays the life, the culture and philosophy of the people and is viewed by the foreign viewer also. The Asian Film Festival exhibits films from all over Asia and the festival will not only bring the Asian film fraternity together but will also provide to the viewers an opportunity to see the best of the Asian cinema. Sahitya Kala Parishad provide financial support for organizing film festival to NGO, which is competent, experienced and has a professional standing in the Capital on a 50% share basis of the expenditure.


    As every year Language Academies and Sahitya Kala Parishad are organising various State functions, so a new scheme under the head "State Functions" has been approved by the Planning/Finance Department. State functions are organised as under :-

  1. Days of National importance.

  2. Baisakhi Festival.

  3. Programmes on the occasion of birth/death anniversaries of the National Leaders.

  4. Any State sponsored programme/event.

  5. Republic Day/Independence Day functions.

  6. Any VVIP programme/function.

  7. Programmes/functions to commemorate the great poets/personalities of Delhi.

  8. Mega Cultural Events in collaboration with NGOs and Delhi Tourism.

  9. International Events.

  10. Annual Awards/State Awards.


Concept of Bhagidari is inbuilt in major programmes of the Sahitya Kala Parishad. The NGOs as well as the eminent artists/scholars/students of schools, colleges and universities are involved in the organization of different programmes and activities like - seminars, training workshops, cultural programmes/schemes in colonies, celebrations of Indian festivals and various music, dance, drama, fine arts, folk arts programmes/schemes etc. and other interactive programmes of music, dance, theatre and fine arts. The programmes are also sponsored and conducted in collaboration with schools/colleges and other literacy, social, cultural organizations.
